A 42-storey city. Barclays Bank London headquarters.
The 42-storey “BP1” tower in Canary Wharf, in London’s Docklands area, is Barclays Bank’s new headquarters building housing 6,000 employees. The client required a quality environment comprising highly flexible workstations.
After an extensive selection process, the architect, Pringle Brandon, recommended the use of the Faram Fra’Tino platform range as the best tool for the open plan concept implemented by the client, thanks to its adaptability, structural integrity, functionality and design.
The “bench”.
The Fra’Tino platform is a bench system that allows users to work wherever they like: all they have to do is reposition the accessories attached to the dividing screen and hook up to the outlets in the central rail running below the worktop.
Designed to fit the building footprint.
The desk tops were produced in 3.2 metre lengths so as to fit the building footprint. This minimised joints between tops and allows for maximum flexibility when reconfiguring.
An advanced system.
The system allowed key components like power sockets and CPU cradles to be repositioned quickly and easily. A light fabric-covered dividing panel runs along the middle of the bench between the users. These features rely on Fra’Tino’s aluminium extrusion which acts as both support structure and for the attachment of sliding acessories.
