Learning in the Docks. The University of East London
The University of East London is one of London’s most interesting new projects. Situated near Royal Albert Dock, it is London’s first new university campus to be built in half a century and was shortlisted for ‘Building of the Year’.
The building houses the Business School, library, reading room with 400 places and a 1000-station computer Trading Hall designed to favour concentration of users as well as guaranteeing maximum functional flexibility, which is why it was decided to use furnishings from the Fra’Tino and Cartesio series.
The computer rooms.
1000 open-space workstations with shared structures made it possible to optimise use of space and increase functionality, in particular in the computer rooms.
The reading rooms.
The reading rooms were furnished with desks from the Fra’Tino series equipped with lengthwise dividing panels for user privacy.
An intelligent structure.
The Fra’Tino desk features a unique support structure that is narrower than the top ensuring maximum space flexibility by giving users access along the entire length of the table.
