Away from the everyday chaos. The new Germans Vila building in Barcelona.
Completely bucking the trend of many factories and office building complexes springing up in the middle or on the outskirts of big cities, Germans Vila, a company in the meat industry has chosen to take on a new building by restructuring an old farmhouse in the area around Barcelona and to make it into its headquarters.
The project’s aim has been to combine temporary elements such as glazed walls and furnishings with more traditional features like stone walls or stoneware tile floors in a successful combination of old and new, offering a high standards of practicality in an environment that anyway has a rural feel to it that is different from the usual image of an executive office block.
Glass and stone.
The project used P600 single-glazed walls with hinged doors inserted between stone walls and stoneware tile floors – a solution that emphasizes the transparency and the brightness of the environment while using traditional materials.
The country office.
On the top floor of the building we find Cartesio workstations and CO.D. filing units, in an environment organised through a set of opaque glazed dividers used to enclose the stair well and delimit spaces.
Past and future.
The ground floor meeting room has a six-seat meeting table of the Cartesio series with a wenge finish surface and aluminium support structure.
